BLACK-FOOTED ALBATROSS

Phoebastria nigripes

THE BLACK-FOOTED ALBATROSS: A SYMBOL OF OCEANIC GRACE IN MONTEREY BAY.

Black-Footed Albatross, is one of the larger pelagic birds we spot in Monterey. Recognizable by its large wingspan and dark plumage, they spend most of their life gliding over the open ocean, where we often spot it searching for food. Breeding colonies are found on remote islands, where pairs engage in elaborate courtship displays, clicking their bills together and dancing.
